Clive went to Welsh junior school and later to Penlan Comprehensive followed by a three –year external London degree course at Birmingham Polytechnic; now Aston University. He was admitted to the roll of solicitors in December 1977 and spent his early years at T. Llewellyn Jones of Neath dealing with a wide range of problems including matrimonial and civil law, together with a broad range of serious crime.
Five years later he left to set up in practice in Swansea under the heading Francis, Rees & Co., which later became Francis, Rees & Kelly. Here Clive specialised in personal injury litigation. He was a founder member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers. When the government of the day removed legal aid from personal injury litigation Clive decided to specialise in crime and eventually, through his interest in the countryside, he found himself dealing with more and more wildlife crime and hunting-related offences.
That eventually led him to set up Clive Rees & Associates. Clive’s role in the practice, other than management, consists of a high concentration of RSPCA and environmental work, all from a defence standpoint as well as general crime. Clive boasts Higher Rights of Audience, enabling him to act from investigation at the police station all the way through the system to Crown Court appeals, and even the High Courts of Justice. Clive also deals with License Revocations, including shotgun licensing as well as other firearms.
Clive is a farmer’s son and has been a keen Huntsman all of his life, having been Master of the Banwen Miners’ Hunt, the South Wales Bassets and many more. Clive currently hunts with the Sennybridge Farmers’ Hunt. When not hunting he can be found skiing in the French alps.
